Will glue make white tissue paper dry clear over decoupage?

my best friend and i decoupaged an old crummy looking shelf with purple material, and we thought putting tissue paper over it would keep some of the edges from coming up. when i lay the paper over the shelf, you can't see through it, but i was wondering if the glue will make it see through when it dries. my grandma told me to add another layer of glue, but some of the pieces are pretty thick and do not want to lay flat which is why we wanted to do something like the tissue paper in the first place. but if the paper is not going to dry clear what else can i do?Will glue make white tissue paper dry clear over decoupage?
try a lighter tissue paper. If you can't see through it originally, it may make it a little more see through, but probably not to the extent you want. Try just a small piece somewhere.

Also, I think ModPodge may be a better idea. It is for projects like that .Will glue make white tissue paper dry clear over decoupage?
Glue the edges down and when completely dried add

some clear lacquer finish. The only thing that will dry clear

with the tissue paper will be the glue. If you don't want to

add the tissue paper then add some clear contact

paper. That will hold the edges down for you.
why dont you try some clear enamel?

or maybe lacquer?

you could probably glue the pieces down that wont lay flat and just paint a clear coat over it.

this is just my guess.

im into art but i dont really know what decoupage is.
ModPodge has several different types of decoupage paste for different weights of paper and ephemera.
i think it will dry clear or atleast a little cloudy
wtf
