I don't necessarily need to transfer the ink independently of the paper, I just want to paste the pages onto a surface but make the white part of the paper translucent so the background will show through. Is this possible? EXAMPLE: I want to paste a page of a book onto a surface so that the text is visible but the paper it is printed on is not.How to make paper clear(ish) but leave the ink for collage?
If the paper is thin enough you can use grease, oil, wax or even furniture polish to make paper translucent.
I have tried it with varnish and it does work but the paper does become very brittle.
As a compromise. You can print text on translucent paper and be done with it in one go. Many copiers will allow printing on clear sheets for overhead projectors.
