My dell a960 all in one printer keeps coming up the message press power, then clear paper jam?

I called DELL support with no luck......he said that the computer basically died. I find that hard to believe when it wasn't used much. I get the message when I turn the printer on whether there is paper in it or not. Any suggestions? My dell a960 all in one printer keeps coming up the message press power, then clear paper jam?
Hello

Does your computer work properly (any errors other than the printer)?

Check all cables connected to the computer and the printer and other periferals. Make sure they are not loose and properly seated into the connectors.

Power off the computer.

Open the printer (power off)

Remove the Toner Cartridge(s)

Check very carefully for any small piece of paper caught in the printer - use a flashlight and check the rollers, especially along the sides (edges).

Power on all periferals including the printer before powering on the computer.

Make sure the printer has enough paper. The paper should be flat - if it is curled, creased or damaged you may get a paper jam message.

Power the computer on last.

Wait until everything loads on the computer before opening any programs/applications.

Go to the Control Panel and open Printers or Printer and Faxes

Right click on the Icon for your DellA960 and left click on Properties

Left click on Print Test Page

If the page prints, you have resolved the problem

If the printer starts and you hear the rollers attempting to pull in a sheet of paper but the paper is not moving - the pickup rollers may be too smooth (worn). This usually give you a paper jam error.

Try new paper.

If it still does the same thing - it may require servicing which may not be economical.

There is a liquid for restoring the rollers - sometimes works as a tempory fix. You would have to try a computer shop where they do repairs and or supply to other computer shops.

Good Luck
